Virtual: Map the System Competition

April 15 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Interested in social innovation and how social and ecological change happens? On April 15 @ 5:30pm, join the Wond’ry virtually for the second inaugural VU Map the System competition, during which one team from Vanderbilt will advance to the Global Finals, hosted by Oxford University in June 2021!

At the event, seven teams of VU students will present their insights from semester-long systems thinking research projects on topics including: climate change and coffee producer livelihoods; climate policy in Nashville; housing affordability & gentrification; racial inequity in the US coffee sector; cattle ranching and deforestation in Brazil; mental health and accessibility in VU’s hybrid education models; and, value creation inequity in the coffee sector.

Judges include: Dr. Julaine Fowlin (Associate Director for Instructional Design, VU); Kristen Tompkins (Director of Human and Organizational Development Capstone, VU); Dr. Ted Fischer (Professor of Anthropology; Director of Latin American Studies, VU); Ursula King (Ecologist & Consultant); and, Brian Gaffney (Management Consultant, PwC and Board Member, Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity).
