Congratulations to the Sohr Grant recipients!🥳🤩

@tunehatch, expressed their gratitude for the $25,000 grant, recognizing the immense value it will bring in accelerating customer adoption and enhancing their responsiveness to customer needs.

@juliaschuller_, the mind behind The Birth Control App, shared her excitement about utilizing the Sohr grant to further app development and cover regulatory costs during the upcoming summer.

As we celebrate the recipients of the Sohr Grant, we are filled with anticipation for what lies ahead. We are confident that these talented individuals will make the most of this opportunity and accomplish
remarkable achievements with the support of the grant!

The capstone to the 2022-2023 Voices of Entreprene

The capstone to the 2022-2023 Voices of Entrepreneurship Speaker Series will be on April 6 with featured guest Dan Angius.

Dan Angius serves as Managing Director of Capital Markets and New Listings at Nasdaq. In this role, Dan acts in an advisory capacity for growth stage private companies that hope to access the public markets, providing guidance on deal execution, regulatory considerations, and optimizing investor relations/governance functions. He has been in this role since 2016. Prior to Nasdaq, Dan was a Private Wealth Advisor at Goldman Sachs, advising small foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals on their public/private market investments. He currently sits on the Investment Committee of Launch Tennessee, an organization committed to providing capital investment and mentorship to Tennessee’s leading startups. Dan received his MBA from Owen Graduate School of Business in 2012, and his BS from the University of Southern California in 2004. Most importantly, Dan has been married to his wife Marisa for the past 12 years and has three amazing sons: Danny, Tommy and Matthew.

Dan will join the C4E in person for a fireside-chat-style conversation to discuss growth stage start-ups and navigating IPOs.

Students, alumni, staff, and community members are welcome to attend. We will have an in-person and Zoom option and will provide a free lunch for those attending in person. Tacit is a B2B SaaS platform that uses NLP AI to facilitate asynchronous 1-to-1 conversations with key stakeholders at scale. This enables organizations to create better, faster, and more evolving solutions based on the collective insights gathered from human capital.

Please join us on this Wednesday, March 22 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. for the first round pitch competition for the 2023 Sohr Grant. All are welcome to attend to cheer on and encourage the five student teams as they pitch their start-ups to a panel of judges. Selected ventures will move on to the final round to compete for the 2023 Sohr Grant. The event will be held in the Owen Graduate School of Management Room 110 (Averbuch). Dinner will be provided.

The March Voices of Entrepreneurship speaker serie

The March Voices of Entrepreneurship speaker series will take place on March 23 with featured guest Brittani Roberts.

Brittani is an Owen 2019 alum. While in grad school she was the President of the Venture & Entrepreneurship Club, and Vice Chair of the Honor Council. After graduating she joined FINTOP Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in B2B SaaS FinTech companies. As a Principal on the investment team, she manages diligence, portfolio management, and works closely with the leaders of the portfolio companies post-investment. Prior to her MBA Brittani found success as an enterprise sales and sales management professional at tech companies like Groupon and Olo.

The group pitched a sports-focused seed or series A startup they would invest in,
Draftea, a Mexico-based daily fantasy sports app, and presented their research and
rationale to a panel of professional sports VCs. Some of the panelists included: Drive
by Draft Kings, Seventy-Six Capital, and 49ers Enterprises. Congratulations🥳
